Defoor Centre Wedding

Tamara and Faheem, whose engagement photos were featured on Munaluchi Bridal,  were married during a romantic wedding ceremony at The Defoor Centre last month. Tamara was stunning in her custom designed pink wedding gown by local seamstress Susan Willis. The wedding couple, even the groom, was full of laughter and smiles all day.  Here are a few favorite photos from their Defoor Centre Wedding. Planning the perfect engagement portraits Couples often don’t know what to do with engagement portraits. They usually can’t envision beyond save the dates and decor for the wedding reception. But engagement portraits mark an important time in a couples journey together. It’s a time filled with hope, excitement and anticipation for the future. Imagine looking at these portraits 10+ years later and re-living the hope that you had at the time. For that reason, I think it’s important to display engagement portraits in the home along with your wedding photos. The great thing about them is they 100% controllable, unlike your wedding day, with the help of a talented photographer, you can be creative as you want to be. Your style, […]

The Wedding First Look- My favorite things

Welcome to our April Blog Hop! This month we are focusing on our favorite wedding ideas to help you in the process of planning your wedding or event. Get ready for some great ideas, inspiration and how to as you move along through the blog hop. You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Irene Tyndale at Irene Tyndale Events  on Natalie’s Blog Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today. Wedding First Look Wedding couples hire me for my ability to document, candid moments and show how the day feels in addition to what happened. One of my favorite moments to photograph is a First Look.  When a wedding couple will see each other before the ceremony  I’ll arrange a time and place for them to see each other for the first time called a First Look. This is a great opportunity to get natural expressions and emotions so I love when couples decide to do this.   All the formal portraits are done before the ceremony so everyone can enjoy the […]

Intimate Decatur Wedding at Wahoo Grill

I really enjoy photographing non-traditional weddings so this intimate Decatur wedding at a restaurant was right up my alley.  The bride wore a custom wedding dress made by her mom.  Instead of a typical hotel to get ready, she rented a cute East Atlanta bungalow through AirBnB.  We stopped by Grant Park for some romantic portraits on the way to the Wahoo Grill in Decatur, where the couple exchanged vows.

Wedding photos at Stone Mountain Park

Not every bride gets to wear her dress again but Julia put her dress on for the 3rd time to participate in my portfolio shoot at Stone Mountain Park. I love her pink gown with fitted bodice and layered skirt. I am always trying to improve my craft so often take photography seminars on topics such as lighting, posing or post processing.  Afterwards I schedule a portfolio shoot to practice.   If you want to know about my upcoming portfolio shoots, make sure you’re on my Casting Call email list.

Yentl and Jimmy Wed at Georgian Terrace

It was hard narrowing down my favorite photos from Yentl and Jimmy’s wedding at the Georgian Terrace.  The bride looked very elegant and beautiful in her dress.  Thanks to Summer McClane of My Simply Perfect Weddings and Events  for making sure the day ran smoothly.

Atlanta Wedding Inspiration: Motion Blur

My goal in creating wedding photos is to give the viewer a since of what it felt like to be present in that wedding.  There is always a lot of energy and excitement going on and one technique I occasionally use to capture that is motion blur. Motion blur is the intentional use of blur to imply movement. There are a variety of ways to use but I especially love motion blur on the dance floor. We’re used to seeing those moments frozen, but sometimes it’s nice to see the movement. There are some tricks to pulling this off and it doesn’t always work, but when it does, it can be a nice and unique way to preserve a moment.

Atlanta Weddings: Flare

So another technique I like to incorporate is the use of flare in my portraits.  Flare is the circles of light you get when you shoot towards the sun (or any light source). It’s caused when light bounces around inside the lens and hits the film or digital sensor. If it’s too much light or at the wrong angle it can ruin a photo. Done correctly it can really add a beautiful element. Here are a few examples.

Atlanta Wedding Inspiration: Reflections

I love incorporating reflective surfaces into portraits. Mirrors are the most common but any shiny surface like glass, polished stone or even water will do. I generally have to see the image in my mind before I can place the subjects and frame the shot. Check out a few of my favorite photos which incorporate reflections.

Sarah and Andrea – The Reception

Sarah and Andrea had a beautiful wedding reception at the Georgia Aquarium. Besides dinner (fabulous catering by Wolfgang Puck) and dancing to the Diane McIntosh Band, the couple and their guests spent the night enjoying the aquatic views. The Oceans ballroom is surrounded by the Beluga whales exhibit and Oceans Voyager exhibit.
